I don't see why you can't, just don't buy an expensive videocard (it won't matter because the server is not rendering anything.)Can I use my old computer as a server?
So like a ten dollar one will work?
So like a ten dollar one will work?
As long as you are using it exclusively to coordinate network traffic, manage users, and do things like serve up files, you can, (provided that it will work for windows.)The parts to focus on are the hard drives (if you are using it as a file server), and the RAM and processor (for game hosting.)
make sure you have a fast internet connection. i thought about doing this once but my internet could only accomodate 12 players with no load from any of my other computers
