I was wondering what kind of a laptop is good for gaming and where i could purchase one in canada. Also are laptops upgradeble in terms of graphic cards, thnx.A good gaming laptop?
laptops are not upgradeable and really if you dont want to spend 2000+ you should stick to desktops for gamingA good gaming laptop?
Ok just stick with this. Labtops suck for gaming. Hope that helps you.:D
if u dont mind spending extra cash get a alienware, or dell xps, the new 9750 is upgradable in terms of gpu etc, and its a nice computer, im on it right now:)
Anyone who says laptops suck for gaming just dont know the right systems. Alienwares are supposedly really good gaming notebooks, but I've owned 2 in the past 4 years and both ended up with terrible overheating problems.... I dont know whether it was my lack of care for them (I was 12 when I got the first 1, so I didnt always know what I was doing) or just that the laptops were packed too tight... probably a combination of both. Anyway, I got a dell inspiron 1720 about a month ago for about 3000$. I would highly recommend you take a look at one because for much less than an alienware, you can get a really nice high def screen, ,2 120 gig hard drives, and (most importantly) an nvidia 8600 card that runs directx 10. In case you dont know, thats really crucial to playing games like bioshock, unreal3 and a bunch of other upcoming games on higher settings with smoother performance. Its absolutely crucial if you need a new gaming notebooks and I'm not sure that alienware has any directx10 cards for their laptops. Thats the cards in the 8 series: 8600-8800 are your best bet but you probably cant find the latter in a laptop yet. I'm not sure about ATIs and dx10, though. You can almost definitely find an inspiron 1720 in canada. Overheating, of course, hasnt been a problem yet, but it does get hot when I play games and there's nowhere for the heat the laptop produces to escape. I'm pretty sure thats a universal problem though. Also, its been consistently 80+ degrees here so that probably has something to do with it. Definitely do your research. If anyone knows how complicated buying a new gaming laptop can be, its me. I hope this helped.
Some laptops can be a bit upgradable, though it's not cheap or easy.Look, as a person with a gaming laptop, I really recommend you asking yourself why you want one. If it's something like going to college or you have some trips to take it on, I can tell you right now don't buy one. Period. Those are terrible reasons to get a gaming laptop.Build your own gaming PC and use that. If you're still looking for a laptop, get one with a modest GPU and use that laptop to relive your old favorites from 5+ years ago whenever you're away from your regular PC.The only reason I even bought one (and at $1300, it wasn't too expensive) was because I moved to China a year ago and the choice was between a gaming laptop or no games. At the time, I would've had no way to ship a gaming PC across the Pacific- if I was going to do it now, since I'm back visiting family, I'd build a PC here and ship it abroad since I could send it to my girlfriend there. That's the ONLY reason I bought one. Even moving to college isn't a compelling reason to buy a gaming laptop- just bite the bullet and lug your PC there and back once or twice a year. A little exercise never hurt anyone.
Asus G1/G2 series are good.
dell xps are good for gaming
