Hey guys, I was just wondering if Vista is still to buggy? or is it fine now? thanks. Is it still to early to buy Vista?
its still pretty buggy the last time i tried a friends copy. i prefer to wait until sp1. but if you must get it make sure you dual boot with xp or ubuntuIs it still to early to buy Vista?
well, im building a new PC in a month and getting vista, there is no way in hell you should put xp on a new computer, but i might stick with xp if i was just thinking of upgrading to vista. Im sure many of the issues will be solved with the service pack later this year.
i have vista. i built my computer 3 days ago and i chose vista over xp mainly for futureproofing. vistas alright, most things work with it. everything that i use, works, all the drivers i've installed works. i would say go for vista. i believe microsoft is going to discontinue XP in january 08, correct me if im wrong
ok thanks for the good info.
I think I am just going to wait until I buy a DX10 card.
In my opinion it's not ready...I feel like a beta tester.
I think support now stands until 2009.And for the TC, my opinion is that if you are going to build a rig and put xp on it it would be a waste. Do what I did and dual boot xp and vista. You can buy vista so you can have a transferable license and then just get a cheap OEM of xp to use until vista become more stable and usable with games and applications.
Id say that Vista is ALMOST ready since the fact that now it can function better (with lots of ram) and there are atleast 50000 more driver updates since its release. In my own opinion I would have to say that vista is still not ready enough to make it as a primary OS but I guess its starting to earn peoples trust
32-bit is fine, i know plenty of people running it without issue. However 64-bit needs more time.

''I don't even have it, but everyone else says it sucks so I'll just jump on the bandwagon! WOOHOO!'' Unless ur running some really wierd programs you shouldn't have problems. I just got done with a game of starcraft, and have played games of Populous: the beginning on vista, so game compatibility is really no issue. even noticing that Populous is comin up on 9 years, damn.P.S. in case you're wondering what populous IT is one of my fav games of the 90's.

The compatibility has been great. Ironically, the only thing that has given me trouble is the new flight simulater demo, which had to turn off the aero interface = P It may slow games down a bit, but newer computers shouldn't have much of a problem.
For what it's worth, the user reports from people who got to try out a leaked release of Vista SP1 have noticed a significant performance increase.Probably goes to show that Vista (as it was initially released) was an OS not ready for prime time if that's the case.If you can hold off, I would at least consider holding off until discs start being sold with Service Pack 1 integrated into it.Though personally, I would rather hold onto Windows XP as long as I can. :P
Yes, I'm waiting on my new computer with Vista Ultimate. Heard about minor issues like bluetooth adapters not working. What can I say a like using my SonyEricsson phone with the computer. :) In general it seems like there is a lot of drivers for different kinds of hardware that where it is lacking proper updates. When it comes to gaming it is going to be interesting what older games will be supported.
I dont like vista, its so much slower. And they made it more annoying to find things for no reason..
I'm geting Vista with my new PC im sure it's just fine and will just get better and better as patches start rolling out.
32-bit Vista has been fine ever since the day it came out. If you thought it was too early to buy Vista the day it came out, than nothing has really changed. It's very different from Xp but it really makes so many things so much easier compared to Xp.

Yea it's fine.It takes some time getting used to but soon enough you'll realise it's an improvement over XP. There are some annoyances that can be solved by changing a few settings.Compatibility-wise, it's smoother than the transition from Win98 to XP. I keep a Win XP partition just in case but I hardly ever use it.

[/QUOTE]Please give a few examples of the ''so many other things much more difficult to do than XP''. I'm sick of all you vista bashers not having any reason or backing. As far as I'm concerned it's a great operating system and the 32 bit version has worked with EVERYTHING I have installed. codezer0 don't try to help if you haven't used it......
