Vista all the way if you buying/building a new PC, it's pretty stable now and will get much better in the next few months.
but what if i want to bust out my old copy of starcraft and diablo2 =(
I can't really vote because I will at least wait for SP1/SP2 for vista, and I would duel boot.

I prefer XP, which I use on my desktop. But I installed Vista Ultimate on my laptop and I think It's OK.

Kubuntu anyone? But for the Vista vs XP debate, I dual boot XP for games.
I've used Vista Ultimate for some time now and enjoy it, no major problems I've encountered to speak of, save for some compatibility issues. I have it dual booted with XP, but I haven't touched XP much since.
will vista yell at me for running and downloading music from limewire?i dont want the police charging into my house for limewire...
winxp for games and video/photoediting. ubuntu 7.04 for everything else when not gaming randomly

Half life 2 (episode one) has known issues with vista. It crashes every so often, and vista comes up with a page saying that it is a known issue with valve, and a fix may become available.

[/QUOTE]You obviously have not read the Vista licence agreement, of course who does.It basically says that they can give away any of your information if they ''think'' it will help the law. All kinds of programs and services in Vista spy on you. They can be removed or disabled, but they do it until then. IE7 I heard will report stuff unless you go into the options and tell it not to. That is what I have against Vista. Although, I will just shut everything I know of off and keep obeying the law when I get it.You shouldn't disobey the law anyway, even if they can't catch you.

The only thing I could find that came remotely close to that is: ''Use of Information. Microsot may use the computer infromation, error reports, and Malware reports to improve our software and services. We may also share it with others, such as hardware and software vendors. They may use the information to improve how their product's run with Microsoft software.''So would you mind citing from the EULA where it says they spy on you? EDIT: After doing a little bit more research, its Windows Genuine Advantage that is said to do the spying, not Vista itself. While I have not found a readable EULA online, I wanted to clear up that misconception. This is what happens when people don't cite their sources...EDIT2: I finally found some substantial information on this spying thing. Take a peak at this article for details. This will just add more fuel to the anti-Vista flames! Is it possible for Microsoft to spy on you and tell the law? I guess so. But will they? I highly doubt it. Doing so would land them in a pile of lawsuites. I guess this is another reason I'm glad I use Linux.
