Which way should I go with GPUs

Don't tell me go with ATI or go with the gtx or whatever thats just annoying. Anyway, I'm stuck between 3 things... I'm looking for a video card right now. I was looking at the top of the line 8600 GTS which get clocks of like 720 but I was just wondering I just wondering if its better that I just get the cheapest one and just OC to the more expensive versions clocks. Will I able to get the same speeds? The third option I was considering is just getting the the cheapest 8800 GTS and ocing that. is that worth the extra dollar? Which way should I go with GPUs

alright yeah cause i was leaning towards that option... only thing is now its gonna take a lot longer to buy the card. does you or anyone else know how well it OCs?
I believe it's decent, but don't expect too much real world performance gains. Google 8800GTS overclocking or something like that.
