Replacing psu caused cpu temp to rise??

I just had what I believe to be a faulty psu so I replaced it for the exact samepsu and now notice no problems. However, I notice that I used to get 30-40 cpu temp and all of a sudden it's up to 50. I am wondering, could it be that having my comp out of order for a good 3-5 days might of cause the thermal paste or something to mess up? Should I try to reapply the thermal paste? Or should I just leave it be?Oh, also the temps are even that high at idle.Replacing psu caused cpu temp to rise??
I doubt that if you were using a reputable paste that it would dry up and become ineffective in a few days. Your PSU may be restricting air flow, does it use lower power fans, or are your new cables blocking air?Replacing psu caused cpu temp to rise??
It was just the basic paste from intel. I have already pushed cables around a bit and used a zip tie to keep some decent airflow going. It just is weird that my cpu went up about 20 degrees when my system is still only at like 40 degrees but my video card is up to 70.Just wondering if the paste could of been a problem since it was a kind of drastic increase out of nowhere.I do notice though that I have quite a few cables up top near the top of the case/ cd drive and floppy drive maybe that's restricting it a bit?
Intel doesn't make crappy paste for it's heatsinks, you should be fine.It could be that your newer PSU is more thermally efficient and is using quieter and (and thus) slower speed fans to reduce noise while at the same time reducing the airflow and increasing temps. If the temps really bother you, just upgrade your fans, this is a good place also try newegg.
I guess i'll just wait and see in a few days. I have a few tubes of replacement paste so if I notice the temps getting higher I might just re paste it just incase to be safe. Doesn't really bother me, but I do set all my case and I think my cpu fan to 100% because of the mobo smart fan being crappy.I just basically was surprised when all of a sudden I see a 20degree increase when all I did was replace my psu.
