I got a new PC and it has a side panel with a latch for easy access. But when it has been on for a while and rarely when its off it makes a popping noise. When I apply pressure on the side panel in crackles and pops briefly. Then after a while it will pop again and the cycle repeats itself. The case is aluminum and there's a plastic window on the side panel. The popping seems to be coming from the latch or handle that opens the case. Anyone know what the problem could be?Need help PC is popping.
Shoddy design maby, possibly wear, or impact. What make and model case do you have?Need help PC is popping.
I have a Raidmax dirk-tooth. It might be wear but its been doing that from the start so maybe it was damaged during assembly, shipping, or something. Please elaborate when you say ''impact'' please.

I have a Raidmax dirk-tooth.
Raidmax cases sucks, get a real one
I realized that since I purchased it, but since im not getting a new one anytime soon, so maybe I can fix the piece of junk that I'm stuck with. The problem is I dont know whats causing this problem. Thats why I asked.
Do you havea link to the case??I want to see the side panel
heres a link. This is my first link so tell me if its broke.http://www.pcguru.ro/carcase/smilodon.jpg
Sorry not dirk-tooth. Thats just what t says on the side, its a raidmax Smilidon.
I checked and the link does work. (Silent Woot!)
im guessing it just shoddy and the heat from your comp is making the metal expand slightly causing the latch to pop
Thats what I thought it might be. Wow that helped alot less than I thought it would. Thanks though, Im sure that'll be of help when I figure out how to fix it. Sigh...
Take the latch off? And then just use screws to keep the panel on and duck tape to cover the hole, that would look nasty but its a quick fix. Or take the latch appart and find any parts that could be touching(and rattling against eachother) and put electrical tape on them to supress the noise.
If you put duct tape on something warm the adheasive will get goopy and isn't going to come off. (The adhesive that is, not the tape.) Tape is a stupid idea.
Ive been using tape and the heat does nothing to the adhesive, it just doesnt get hot enough, and the noise keeps coming.
Thanks Platearmor_6 you might have a solution. I can not thank you enough if this actually works. I'll probably try that.
Yer I know from experience it would work (just look ugle). Have you tried it? Things in theory don't always pan out the same way in practice.
I'm just saying, if you ever want to take the tape off there's gonna be a bunch of adheasive still on there.
I'm just saying, if you ever want to take the tape off there's gonna be a bunch of adheasive still on there.
I had the tape on for weeks and resantly took it off. No sticky adhesive, you know why? Duct tape is'nt the only tape. I used painters tape, it sticks but comes off easily.
