Recently my MSI GeForce 6600 crapped out, everytime I turned on my PC I would have to switch between the VGA cable and the DVI cable to figure out which one will display something on my moniter... anyways last night it decided to quit working, It hasn't turned on since.
I'm pretty sure my videocard is dead so I'm buying a temporary replacement card, I picked the BFG 7600GS OC as it is very cheap and will do the job.
I just need to know one thing, I can't uninstall my 6600 drivers because my display is not working so if I put in my 7600 and uninstall my old drivers with the 7600 in, will it damage the card in anyway?
thanks GS.
P.S. I picked up the evga 8800gts 320mb today, I can't wait to order a few parts and put it all together, woo.
Driver question
It should be fine, but if need be, boot-up into safe mode (where it only loads standard VGA drivers) and remove the driver that way.Driver question
alright thanks.
You should be okay just to boot to Windows, but I'd do it in safe mode, uninstall and clean out the old drivers, and re-install the new ones before getting out of safe mode. Odds are you'll be fine without my advice, but better safe than sorry.
