Hard drives help

I have to IDE hard drives. 2 days ago they were working fine and when i came back my computer didnt detect any of the ahrddrives and i thought ill try 2 install windows again it confirmed that there where no hard drives. wth could have happened if 2 days ago it worked fine but now it doesnt? I checked the cables and everything is still connected. Please help me

in bios what setting would i ahve to set the harddrive to inorder for it to boot from? hdd 0, hdd 1, hdd2 ect, I have windows on both hard drives.
