Installing XP over Vista on new Laptop ??

Just got myself a new basic laptop. Specs... AMD Sempron 3400, 512MB RAM and GeForce 6100 Go graphics.Anyway, it was cheap and its OK for what i need it for. (plus is actually runs Call of Duty!).Only problem is that its a Vista laptop! Don't ask why; this laptop is clearly not capable of running Vista.I have a XP installation disc, and wantto install it over Vista. How do i go about doing this? If i just put the XP disk in the DVD drive, will it automatically install over Vista. Or do i format the disc and then intall XP when i reboot the laptop?RegardsdbowmanInstalling XP over Vista on new Laptop ??
Go into your BIOS and tell it to boot from the disk. When XP is installed it will format the drive anyway, and overwrite everything (just a warning :D).Installing XP over Vista on new Laptop ??
If you can put another 512MB RAM Vista will run without problems.Format it through the XP setup
Thanks for the advice guys. I've just read on other forums about people having trouble doing this. Vista doesn't seem to let people ''downgrade'' the OS.
ubuntu ftw
ubuntu ftw
You just love to plug ubuntu at every opertunity you get, lol
Will it have any problems because the HDD has a partition?

Thanks for the heads up guys!
