Hi all, it's been a couple of years since I've upgraded anything on my computer and was hoping to get some advice on what to upgrade and what you would recommend to buy. Here's my computer specs:Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHz1 gig memory (DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE, 512, 400M, 64X64, 8K, 184, per system specs on Dell's web site)GeForce 6600 GT 128 mb (AGP, don't ahve an PCI-E slot)HARD DRIVE, 160GB, Serial ATA, 8MB, 7.2K, WD-XL80 (per system specs on Dell's web site)I'm looking at spendingaround$400 -$500and would really appreciate any help you all can give. Thanks a lot.Looking for some suggestion on upgrading my computer
Honestly, there's not much I'd do to your rig - your processor isn't great but isn't terrible, your memory is sufficient for most games, your graphics card is one of the more reasonable AGP cards, and your hard drive is fine. At the most you might consider picking up a new graphics card, and another 1GB of RAM but that's probably not even worth it. Stick it out with what you have right now, and start saving up for a new rig.Looking for some suggestion on upgrading my computer
The first thing that sorely stuck out was your video card. Get a current generation video card (If you want to stick with Nvidia, thats the 8 series... the 8800 being the best)Also, you could use another gig of RAM and a better processor, but the video card is your biggest issue

What brand manufacturer shoud I go with (Newegg had GeCube, Powercolor and HIS). Also, how big a PSU does it need? I have 500 watt PSU from Antec.

The Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe 3.0 GHz. It's hella good. Can your motherboard support Core 2 Duo?

Judging by the responses I'll probably go ahead and pick up the 2 GB DDR2 1066 and x1950 pro and then start saving for a new computer. My one last question would be what brand manufacturer to choose for the video card and memory?

Because I've been playing games for the better part of the day and could barely even see?
If you want to play the newests games, a new mobo/C.P.U. is a must which means DDR2 R.A.M.
