PC gaming controller...HELP!!

Hey...I have a Logitech gaming controller (Setup exactly like a PS2/Ps3 controller).Now, do the controllers only work for some games? It is there some sort of ''mod'' I can download that lets me use the controller?It would be really cool to play CSS or CoD2 with a controller, it would be very different and fun to play.Thanks guys.
