PC hardware expectations

I remember when I bought my Pentium 4 3GHz, 1gb RAM, and Radeon 9800 pro. I bought this pc for one of my most anticipated game in that time... Half-Life 2. Anyone who followed that game knows how many times the release got pushed forward. And despite that my pc had no problem playing HL2 on maximum graphics on my 1280x1024 monitor. Call of Duty 2 and Far Cry my pc played fairly well even though my pc was kinda outdated at the time.I recently read many topics in several forum stites where people ask if they can run Crysis with their specs. Most of these people have duo core E6600 and 8800 grafix card or at least something similiar. And they usually get responded by ''You can play it on medium or maybe high''. Some people just doubt the power of these expensive pc parts it seems. I've even read a topic where some rich bastard comes to ask if his Quad Core overclocked cpu, 4gb of RAM and DUAL SLI 8800 can play Crysis on maximum settings. Somehow I felt kinda offended and died a little bit inside then... I'm getting confused alot lately... wondering if PC gaming is worth it or should I go with the ''cheaper'' option and buy a gaming console. Because if his pc cannot play Crysis on maximum settings I will dump pc gaming for the rest of my life without ever looking back again. If the best card in the market cannot play Crysis on best settings then why would Crytek even bother making such game? ''Hey lets all make a game for no one... thats our audience from now on'' LOL... it wouldn't make any much sense would it? :SPeople who spend over 1000 euros/dollars to upgrade their pc need to set their expectations HIGHER... MUCH HIGHER!PC hardware expectations

Without capitalism, we would still be playing with Commodore 64s and Atari 2600s. It has its good points...

PS2 has a big library of many great games. All console is equal in technical view but still they don't suck or do they?

Buy console and stop making threads like that.
Buy console and stop making threads like that.
And just because you're in love with your beloved company doesn't mean I'm not allowed to make threads with some criticism in it towards the company where you buy your graphics card. I'l make such threads whenever the **** I want. Not to mention I allready have a 360 myself.
That was the case a couple of years back then but now consoles is getting favourized by many developers so the games library isn't that much better anymore. But I don't want to start about that since I need to stick to the subject of my original post.
