Ok guys. help me out here please; My life at the moment is very limited.
right now, i have a Pentium 4 3.0ghz 533mhz FSB no HT support... 512MB DDR2 PC3200- i'm thinkin of upgrading that with a 1GIG PC5300 soon. only $50!and a crappy PCI integrated PNY Geforce 5500FX. what, was the core clock a friggin 270mhz? blehh. this thing cost me frigin $100 around 2 years ago or somethin. i can bearly play HL2 and CSS at playable framerate, from going 20FPS to about 35FPS. small tiny maps like Fy_iceworld i can play around 35~50FPS. Im tired of playing old games at crappy frame rate.if you'd like a detailed Comp Spec, here's a CPUZ HTML dump = here
what i really want is a decent, no worry playable performance for my games. have some sympathy, i've never owned a BF2 in my life, and i've always wanted to own the game and play it smoothly and freely ever since it was released in June of 2005. the game is 10 bux now! i better buy a copy before it dissappears from the store shelves! sadly, i dont have enough money to buy a new computer, or even a new motherboard. it was so gay how my parents bought this computer that didnt even have a video card slot. my life currently sucks.i have limited money, at around 200$ max. i cant spend too much. what i've been researching all over the interent is that the current best PCI videocard for the computer is Visiontek 256MB DDR2 x1550 PCI- this so i need you guys to recommend me. is it worth getting it? it's about $129.99 retail price, and i'm not thinking of spending the 100+ dollars i've been saving up for months to only get a tiny increase in performance, or some gameplay with FPS bobbing up and down like crazy every second. The games i wish to play with good playable framerate are:
Battlefield 2,
F.E.A.R.,
Americas Army,
Call of Duty 2 *cant wait for 4*
and Supreme Commander.
i'm a big fan of FPS, especially great modern shooters! i've learned to love WW2 shooters from DoD and CoD, and i usually hate futuristic or Sci-Fi shooters, but i've learned to admire FEAR.i dont want my money to go to waste, so i'd GREATLY appreciate it if you guys could provide me with any kind of useful tips or advices! thanks!PCI videocard? y/n?
You SHOULD save money for a new rig, you'll be much better off.PCI videocard? y/n?
if that'd be my best choice, about how much money would i need? i'm sure i'd have to buy a new motherboard + a new videocard AT LEAST, also having the fact that i think i should upgrade my CPU also. wouldn't that cost me like $500+ ?it should be at least $100 for a BETTER motherboard,
$150 more if i'd say i'm getting a duo core 2,
$150-200 if i buy a videocard. = about $500? @_@;;
X2 3600+ $62
eVGA or MSI 8600GT $115
BIOSTAR TF560 A2+ $80
1GB CORSAIR VALUESelect DDR2 667 $43Not even close to $500...
LOL SORRY BUT WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO LINK ME THOSE SOMEHOW? OR WHERE U GOT IT FROM? NEWEGG? @_@~

i'm ganna have to save up some more money. [/QUOTE] Also you might wanna get a Antec earthwatts 380W for $50 as well.
im taking notes down on everything, i'm familiar with comp hardware and building, but i need to know more about the good brands of the hardware and the prices- what's good and what's bad. ...if it wouldn't be too troubling for you, would you care to give me some recommendations of specific brands for each hardware?

If you buy a mobo with 5.1 or 7.1 sound you might wanna get surround headphones, Zalman Theatre is one of the best, altough it has lousy mic, so you might wanna get a table mic if you wanna VOIP.

Well I have Zalman theatre plugged to the modo integrated Realtek 97, altough it only uses 5 of mobos 7 channels the experience is still awesome. I don't count soundcard as important as many others, since IMO Realtekgives quite nice sounds.
