fatal system error

i started putting my comp into stand by mode recently to save power and so all the elements weren't on in the comp. when not needed. i have to move the mouse to get it out of standby mode. so i came back today and did that and then a thing popped up saying ''fatal system error'' on a blue screen. it shut off and i restarted it and it did its 3 step disk check and started up normal. anyone know wats up? was it b/c of standby?fatal system error

I assume you're running some kind of Windows OS?Probably just some memory hiccup. But if the problem persists, I suggest re-formatting your hard drive (or replacing) and checking your RAM for any errors. Heck, you could try moving to a more stable OS (e.g. move from 64 bit XP to 32 bit XP).
