Hey guys,Got my new computer today, hooked up my backup harddrive and its not showing up! Everything is plugged in properly.HELP!Harddrive not being detected?
BUMP! I REALLY NEED IT NOW, IT HAS ALL OF THE INSTALLION FILES ON IT!Harddrive not being detected?
Do you have it in RAID with another HDD? I've found so many motherboards that will not do RAID without a lot of troubleshooting. If you can, try booting from the back-up HDD by itself.
What type of drive is it and how did you connect it to the new PC? Does it show up in the BIOS ?
A SATA or IDE hard drive? If it's IDE, if you have a friend (or willing to buy one) with one of those IDE to USB cables - use that to see if that will work. Also, might be dumb to say - but check the jumper settings (Master and slave) on the drive itself.Otherwise, another solution would be to plug into another computer and transfer/use your files over the network (a lot of hassles, but if the data is important, it's worth spending the time)
Does it show up in Disk Management at all?

Maybe your backup drive is a IDE HDD.Change the JUMPERS of your Backup Hard Drive ( Master or Slave or Cable Select)

And if not, is the drive SATA2?If so, then remove the drive and set the jumper on the back of the drive. It will clock the drive down to SATA 1 speeds and it may recognize.
Sorry guys, just looked at the harddrive, says its IDE. I can be a complete idiot at times lol. Sorry about allt he hassells!
Buy-the-way, did you get the PC going that you sold to your mate?
Yep, had to reinstall XP after ages of installing the night before :(
Well, at least it's done. Hope you gave him the Gamespot address for any future probs, might save you going deaf in one ear.
